Zammuto for the Win
There are artists and there are people. Can people be artists? This short documentary of a day in the life of Nick Zammuto, one half of the spectacular duo The Books, lends hard evidence to the answer of yes, yes artists are just people, people who happen to create artifacts of inspiration for others to admire. Zammuto’s humble abode and adorable children are exposed in all their simplicity making Zammuto’s work ever more endearing to those who choose to open their hearts and ears to his truly original take on the production process. Zammuto provides a glimmer of hope for those who like to worry about the demise of creativity supposedly brought about with the ever expanding ability of “average” people to produce music in their homes with the help of laptop’s and DAWs. Zammuto’s humble attitude washes away the need to see musicians as stars and allows for the viewers of this documentary, and listeners of his music, to realize that the truly inspiring artist produces work out of love for ones medium and the outlet of expression it allows, not for the vain hope of being a jet setting rock star in the back of the tour bus with a handful of groupies. He might be coming to a city near you. We highly recommend you enjoy the show.
