Reviewed – Album | Radere | I’ll Make You Quiet
February 13, 2012 in Music, Reviewed - Albums
Having the pleasure of knowing Radere, or Carl Ritger, influenced the idea of the following review. Also not knowing how to explain this type of music yet, without repeating anything else written time and again, factored in. Ambient/drone/noise music is something that embodies raw emotion. Carl is an extremely talented producer and his latest release on Future Sequence entitled, “I’ll Make You Quiet” is proof in the power of patience. Both on his end and what it asks of the listener.
Each track is reviewed as a piece of script from a short, short film. Some inner monologue…or something along those lines.

“My eyes open and I am floating in space. It is peaceful, it is serene. I am alone, but do not feel alone. My space suit is white, my body feels light, the air is dark and my soul feels bright. Static. What the hell is that static?…where is it coming from?…what does it mean?…what is changing? I’m moving faster. I feel afraid. “Somebody!!”…wait….wait, I hear the light and see the sound. It’s serene again and I can’t shake this smile.”

“Yo” a voice says from the end of the alley to my back. “Who’s there?” I question with a bump in heart rate as I spin around . Silence.. “Yo” the voice says again, drenched in reverb, echoing out through me into the empty streets. “What are you?” I ask….The walls begin to move and sway, the bricks appear to be dripping. Sunshine cuts through clouds, to cast shadows on the liquid movement of the walls. The alley ground pushes wide as the walls fall like water, splashing to the earth as the voice calmly says, “it’s me.”

“It feels so huge out here, so vast. Man I feel strong, my head is clear. I can smell a sea that is not on the horizon. “What the?” There is no horizon. And why won’t my legs move? Purple birds are dropping coins from the sky. Silver coins. They are beginning to fill the ground, and knocking on my head. “Hell yeah!!!!!” I shout from the sand….”hell yeah.”

“The entire great manor is awash with the smell of roasted meat and fresh vegetables emanating from the grande kitchen. Tight green shrubs form elaborate pathways in the garden, the grounds outside appear stunning through the giant windows. A setting sun melts through the glass ceiling of the atrium, em blazing the room below in orange. In the great room, a fire crackles as it warms the burgundy and oak furniture that surrounds it. “Ellington….pour me a brandy” I say to my loyal butler. “Our dear ones are on their way.”
5. Stay Away

“I have swam much to deep and the meter on my oxygen tank is reading low. Ears are popping, pressure is having its way. No longer can I see the surface or light above me. Down. Deeper I swim into the abyss. Headlamp switches on, PSHT! It bursts and flickers out immediately. Down I go. Legs swimming faster, arms ripping harder, heart is open and working away. “Let go”, I think to myself. Motionless, I let go.”
